Competitor Analysis
Competitor Analysis#
What it is: Side-by-side comparison of your YouTube channel against up to 4 competitor channels across 6 data dimensions.
What it produces#
A detailed analysis report with 6 tabs:
| Tab | Contents |
|---|---|
| Overview | Channel stat cards + 5 ranking tables (subscribers, views, video count, engagement, upload frequency) |
| Videos | Recent and top videos for each channel — views, likes, comments, engagement badge, duration |
| Tags | Top 30 tags per channel shown as frequency bar charts |
| Playlists | Each channel's playlists grid |
| Thumbnails | Top video thumbnails — save any as a style reference for Thumbnail Maker |
| Content Gaps | Tags competitors use that your channel doesn't — with competition intensity |
How to use it#
- Go to Tools → Competitor Analysis → + New Analysis.
- Select a brand that has a YouTube channel URL linked.
- Add 1–4 competitor channels — paste a channel URL, @handle, or channel ID.
- Each channel is resolved instantly with a thumbnail and subscriber count preview.
- Click Analyze.
- Wait ~10–30 seconds while data is fetched and rankings are calculated.
- Explore the 6 tabs.
Saving thumbnail style references#
On the Thumbnails tab, click the heart icon on any thumbnail to save it. Saved thumbnails appear as style reference options in Thumbnail Maker.
Content gap analysis#
The Content Gaps tab lists tags that appear frequently across competitor videos but are absent from your channel. Each tag shows a competition intensity badge (Low / Medium / High).
Focus on Low intensity gaps first — these are terms your competitors rank for, but with relatively little content to compete against.
Caching#
Channel data is cached for 24 hours. If you run two analyses with the same channels on the same day, the second one is instant.
Tips#
- Choose competitors that are slightly larger than you — their content strategy is aspirational but reachable.
- The Engagement ranking (avg views per video / subscribers) often reveals which channels punch above their weight — study their format.
- Export the Content Gaps list and use it as a content calendar starting point.
